Today is National Sugar Cookie Day. We decided to put a spin on it, and add some "Grown Up" ingredients.
We got our basic sugar cookie recipe from Martha Stewart at http://www.marthastewart.com/338471/basic-sugar-cookies. Don’t forget to leave time to chill the dough.
Then we divided the dough and mixed and matched flavors. We were trying Bailey’s Irish Cream, ground coffee beans, and orange zest. We used a champagne flute to create small rounds. Once the cookies baked and cooled, we dipped them in chocolate. Tempered or semi-sweet chocolate with coffee grounds makes for a mildly sweet cookie, good for an afternoon visit while kids are napping. Let the chocolate fully cool before testing the flavor! Enjoy!
